Equipment Based Pilates
What is it?
Pilates is a series of exercises designed to help your body function better. You begin by concentrating on the deep abdominal muscles that support your spine and progress by bringing in other muscle groups, strengthening those that are weak and stretching those that are tight.
Benefits include: increased mobility, flexibility and strength, improved balance, reduction in posture related aches and pains and lower stress levels
Pilates can be performed on specialist equipment which offers both support and resistance via the use of springs and pulleys. Using the equipment can take Pilates to a higher level encouraging greater precision and improved core stability, strength and endurance. Alternatively, the supportive element and smooth motion of the equipment means it is ideal for those who may find mat work or other forms of exercise too painful.

What to expect
Using a Reformer, Exo-chair and other equipment, your instructor will make a series of slight adjustments using the springs, bars and pully systems to tailor your sessions to your exact needs. These ingenious machines take Pilates to a much higher level, encouraging greater precision and improved core stability, strength and endurance. With the added advantage of smooth motion, the equipment supports you whilst exercising, providing relief from pain or discomfort that you may experience with mat based Pilates or other forms of exercise.
So, whether you are new to Pilates, or already use this type of exercise as part of your regime, this equipment will help you to discover a new kind of strength, here’s what some of clients experienced:

An individual, one hour session with your instructor is required prior to attending any of our Pilates sessions. This will enable you to receive a full assessment and to learn the basics of The Pilates technique.
Equipment Pilates is offered at Courtyard in the following formats:-
- 1:1 sessions
- 1:2 sessions
- Equipment Pilates Package: Individual 1 hour assessment, 2x half hour follow up, 6 group sessions, 1 hour individual 1:1 follow-up.
The Equipment Pilates Package is ideal for anyone who is new to Pilates or never used the equipment before, as well as those looking to overcome and manage injury, or improve fitness with a focus on your specific areas of weakness.
