What It Is

Acupuncture is a system of healing that has been practised in China and other Eastern countries for thousands of years. At Courtyard Clinic, Sally practises acupuncture based on Traditional Chinese Medicine principles to support both physical and emotional wellbeing. Treatment aims to restore balance in the body, improve comfort, and promote overall health.

Although often described as a method of pain relief, acupuncture can help with a wide range of conditions, including:
Your first appointment will include an in depth assessment of your physical and emotional wellbeing. From this, your practitioner will create a holistic treatment plan that may include both acupuncture (insertion of fine needles) and acupressure (applied with the fingers and thumbs). If you are new to acupuncture or nervous about needles, your practitioner will guide you through the process, starting with areas where you will not feel discomfort so you can become comfortable with the technique.
Your first visit will usually last around 2 hours, with follow-up sessions lasting approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

You may have an initial assessment call with Sally to go through your medical history before your first treatment.

Your initial session typically lasts around 1½ hours, with follow-up sessions of a similar length.

It’s also possible to book an extended in-clinic initial assessment (around 2½ hours) if you prefer to do the full consultation in person.

Acupuncture can work alongside other therapies at Courtyard Clinic, including:
