Biography

Meet Emma

I am a physiotherapist specialising in women’s and pelvic health, with a passion for helping people navigate sensitive health issues with care, understanding and effective treatment. My journey into physiotherapy began while I was pursuing a career in design. In 1994, I observed a Multiple Sclerosis rehabilitation session at The Bristol Royal Infirmary, and the experience inspired me to change direction. It took several years of determination and study, but I achieved my goal.
I began my professional career as a physiotherapy assistant at Bristol Royal Infirmary before studying at the University of Wales College of Medicine, qualifying as a physiotherapist in 2003. My first role was at The Great Western Hospital Foundation Trust in Swindon in 2004, where I spent 20 years, the last 13 of which I specialised in women’s and pelvic health. In 2017 I moved to Gloucestershire, and after six years commuting on the A417, I joined Courtyard Clinic in Dursley in December 2024 to work closer to home.
As a women’s and pelvic health physiotherapist, I assess and treat ante- and post-natal patients, pelvic girdle pain during pregnancy, postnatal rehabilitation, and bladder and bowel dysfunction. I believe that every client deserves time and space to talk openly about sensitive concerns, and that active listening is key. My approach is caring and problem-solving, always focused on helping each individual feel confident, comfortable and empowered in their own body.
Alongside my clinical work, I have invested in personal study into nutrition, menopause and exercise, which has strengthened my holistic approach to care. Outside the clinic, I enjoy country walks with my husband and I return to my creative roots through songwriting, often inspired by personal life events, recording my songs and adding videos whenever I can.
