Clare Hornby
Physiotherapist and Pilates Instructor
Biography
Meet Clare
I am a physiotherapist and certified Pilates instructor with over 20 years of experience helping people recover from injury, rebuild strength and move with more confidence. My early career took me through a range of settings, including the NHS, private practice and a specialist rehabilitation centre for firefighters. Over time, my focus has evolved towards using movement as a long-term tool for health and wellbeing.
At Courtyard Clinic in Dursley, I teach both matwork and reformer Pilates, and I love how adaptable it is. Whether someone is recovering from an injury, managing joint or muscle issues, or simply wanting to feel stronger, more flexible and more mobile, I tailor each session to their individual needs. I draw on my physiotherapy background to adapt and progress exercises so they are both effective and enjoyable, supporting clients from early rehabilitation through to improved long-term fitness.
I have completed additional training in manual therapy, functional movement, hydrotherapy and rheumatology, and I am currently developing my skills in strength and conditioning, which I am excited to integrate into my Pilates and physiotherapy work.
Outside the clinic, I stay active however I can. I have served as a retained firefighter in Gloucestershire and volunteered with emergency services in Australia. These experiences taught me the value of calm thinking, teamwork and resilience, qualities that continue to shape how I work with clients today.
