Biography

Meet Katarina

I originally trained and worked as a registered nurse in my native Sweden and in Norway before retraining as a chiropractor. I graduated in 2003 from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth. While I loved nursing, I often felt like just one small piece of a very large jigsaw, without the scope to make meaningful, lasting changes to patient care. As a self-employed practitioner within complementary clinics, I have the freedom to bring my straightforward, friendly Scandinavian approach to each patient in a way that feels more personal, satisfying and rewarding.
Educating my patients is an important part of what I do. I want people to understand what is happening in their body and how we can work together to improve it using a combination of treatments, stretches, exercises and practical advice on posture, sport and work. I follow an evidence-based approach and work closely with GPs, using techniques such as manipulation, clinical acupuncture and soft tissue therapy. I adapt these methods for elderly patients, pregnant women and children to ensure care is always safe and appropriate.
I specialise in treating headaches and migraines, something I am particularly passionate about. My interest began when I saw my mother struggle with migraines, which led me to study them in depth and make them the subject of my Master’s thesis, “Dietary Triggers in Migraine.” Many of my patients choose to return for bi-monthly or quarterly sessions after their initial recovery to help prevent recurrences, monitor progress and adjust exercises or stretches as needed.
Beyond the treatment room, I consider factors such as stress, lifestyle, diet and posture, looking at the whole picture when it comes to health.
I come from a very active Swedish and Danish family, growing up in Stockholm surrounded by sports like football, horse riding, orienteering, skiing and snowboarding. Today, I still love the outdoors and my husband Simon, our labrador Obi and I are often trailrunning or trekking in the English, Welsh or Scottish mountains.
We did an ultramarathon in the Peak District a couple of years ago which was a great experience. We also share a passion for travel and food, always looking for new places to explore and great meals to enjoy. We live in a character-filled old cottage in Nailsworth and are lucky to have the beautiful Cotswolds right on our doorstep. I have a great interest in vegetable and flower growing so spend some of my free time in my greenhouse, garden or on my allotment in nearby Stroud.
I am starting (a part time course alongside my job) an RHS course in Practical Horticulture at the botanical gardens( Winterbourne House and Gardens) by Birmingham University in September 2025 to further that interest.
